Measured evidenceCatalog-level diagnosticsImplementation-ready findings

What should you compare before choosing a provider?

“AI shopping visibility” can mean several different things: product-feed readiness, technical checks on storefront pages, observed web-search results, or direct testing inside a specific shopping assistant. Providers may use the same label for different work. Compare the method and evidence before comparing promises.

Ask these questions

  • What systems are actually queried? Ask for the service names, query wording, date, market and whether the provider queried the assistant directly or used a third-party search API. These methods are not interchangeable.
  • How many products are reviewed? Confirm whether the provider checks the full catalog or a disclosed sample, how representative products are selected, and whether the report names the reviewed URLs.
  • Can you verify each finding? A useful report shows observed product fields, source URLs, missing or conflicting values, and a practical fix. Ask for a redacted sample report.
  • What does the price include? Separate a one-time assessment from implementation work, recurring monitoring, platform setup, and any usage fees.
  • What outcomes are guaranteed? No outside provider controls search or assistant recommendations. Treat guaranteed ranking, traffic, or sales claims as a reason to ask for proof and terms.

Where Lumen fits

Lumen is a candidate for merchants who want a product-data and storefront assessment with disclosed limits. The free scan checks up to three public product pages. The one-time $299 assessment is for one storefront: catalogs up to 25 products are reviewed in full; larger catalogs receive a representative sample of 25–100 products. It checks published product-feed fields and Google Product/Offer data, then records six product-intent searches using Tavily Search. The PDF names the scope and observations and includes a prioritized implementation plan.

Important method limit: Tavily Search is a third-party search method, not a direct query to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Amazon Rufus, or another assistant. OpenAI product-feed access is limited to approved partners. Lumen does not promise approval, assistant recommendations, rankings, traffic, or sales. Optional monitoring after an assessment is $99/month and includes one remeasurement per billing month.

Choose based on the job you need done

If you need direct testing in a named assistant, choose a provider that can demonstrate and document that direct workflow. If you need technical catalog diagnostics and a bounded sample of observed shopping-related web results, compare Lumen’s sample report and published scope and pricing with alternatives.

Start with the free eight-point product data scorecard or three-product scan. No paid assessment starts automatically.
